I can explain very simple what a Blue Silver Agouti is, and maybe you will understand. It´s an Agouti with two genes for Blue and two genes for chinchilla. Or we can say it´s a Blue Agouti with two chinchilla-genes!

The chinchilla-gene "takes" away all the redness from fur so it will lack of all red colour. That´s why it doesn´t look so much like an Agouti. The two Blue genes also fades the colour.

An Agouti Tan with two chinchilla-genes is called Chinchilla! The colour of body is in black and white and on stomach the Tan is shown as Fox (White) because the Chinchilla-gene cannot allow any redness to show!

This colour is a chinchilla that is not Tan and got two blue genes that gives it the blue tone…

A = Agouti/Ticked (dominant gene)

- = cannot say if A or a (non-agouti)

c(ch) = the chinchillagene (recessive, needs to be in pair to show colour)

d= the blue gene (recessive, needs to be in pair to show colour)

Oh wow, that's so interesting! That must take many generations to produce, was it planned or a nice accident? :-) I think I'll find some books about mouse genetics, one day I would love to be a breeder.

Well Blue Silver Agouti and also a pinkeyed variety of the colour is one of my goal. This buck wasn´t planed… not to be born in Poland anyway… Natalia, Dynamimaus breeding, wanted Silver Agouti so she got a pregnant doe from me… She got lucky and got Silver Agouti in the litter and also Blue Silver Agouti…

Is silver agouti the same as chinchilla in the UK?

Chinchilla is fox, silver agouti is not.  Silver agouti is an agouti bleaced whith cc. Chinchilla is the same, but the agouti is tan, bleached whith cc.

Very beautiful! I love the shadings that are caused by the dark undercoat and the agouti. So Henry's silveragouti carried blue?!?

#22 Yes, some of them did!  He also breed Blue Agouti and started up with Silver Agouti on them.
