Sorry to tell you, but no one has guessed correctly, on the size of the litter.  So keep up the good work!

I only had a short glimts of the babies - counted them, checked they where alright - but I noticed a very strange one in the litter. I suppose that one will "go first" (if nature wants so), but anyway: it was almost transparant in colour. Smaller then the other. Almost like she was younger and not fully developed…

I feel like this is one of my first litters… it´s soo hard to keep my fingers away… wanna be one in the nest I think…

Mom is fine, and it´s still 17 babies in the nest!  

WOW so many bebies, she have a lot to take care of, she is a great mother.

Now it´s 16 mice in the nest. They all look fine accept one - a very small.

The father should be an Abyssinian too, but in the litter it seams some kids don´t have any rosettes…

Babies are still 16. Now some of them have opened their eyes.

Now the litter is grown - I can´t put up any pics at the moment though my computer is KAPUTT (german for broken *LOL*) !!! - and they are all Abyssinian. BUT only feve are good Aby, of these ffive maybe 4 can be shown in Standard. Of the other eleven in the litter some you can tell are Aby, but not perticialar good, and some are very hard to tell they got rosettes.

So in fact it was a great portion of luck that it was a big litter!

I do got some questions…

What shall I do with the maybe 10 from the litter that´s not good Abys?

Can "bad aby" get "good aby" offspring? Or shall bad abys only go as pets? Or can you use them in other breedings if they got good temperament, type or color?

As any other variety/color i'd say that even a bad agouti can give good agouti offspring (if they carry the genes for good agouti with them, from good agouti parents or grandparents), like it is on any other rodent. As they say, the best breeders arent necessarily the ones that does the best on shows.  I would guess they can still give good aby offspring, only way to really tell is to test breed them.

Grodan, how your abissynian are going? Do you have more litters of them? Some pictures would be nice too :)

In this litter of 16 there was only 5 good ABY and the rest was poor - you can hardly see any rosettes on them… The best does were sick so I had only a poor ABY doe to mate with this male (pic)

Their litter is 2 weeks now and of 6 does theres only 2 really good ABYs…

I´m not going to continue with ABYs, but some other breeders in Sweden will.

No they are not cute. Actually I´m dissapointed. They are thin and ugly typed…
